2007 rockshox technical manual (english) part# 95-4015-011-000, rev. Hi guys, I've got a Rockshox Recon 351 solo air on the front of a 2007 Trance. Had heard that you can adjust/remove the spacers in the air spring to go from 80 - 100mm(current) -130mm. Pulled off the lowers today to just renew the bottom oil, can already get some extra travel out of the air.

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has re-built their forks. My seals went on a steep downhill.....quite literally exploded and dumped air and oil, appears the seal went.
Is there anything I can do to fix/fixing kits or shoudl I just get a new set?
They are quite old!
Cheers

download the service manual from Srams webby. order the bits you need and alls good.
Or send them away for some TLC.'Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail.'

i'd get them tftuned, and possibly PushED if they'll do recons0

Hi M8 Ive owned 3 sets of recons, and they are really easy to rebuild. If you are confident just download the pdf service manual from here.Second one from the bottom.
http://www.sram.com/en/service/rockshox ... ubcatID=11
And then phone tftuned for a rockshox 32mm seal kit and some SVI Rock oil 5weight and 15 weight.Cost around £25 for parts and around 45 mins of your time.I service my seals once a year and change the Oil in my lowers every six months or so.
You can of course get them serviced by TFtuned, and they will Push Recons Ive phoned up and asked. The guy told me a Recon is just a budget Reba without the negative air chamber adjust, the Solo air spring does this for you.
Then again you may have a coil version.
Any problems PM me. -

Standard degreaser is fine, you can buy a container of concentrate stuff from halfords for about £6 mixed with water makes around 40ltrs.Remove your foam washers before you do this (they just pull out) and your dust wipers if you like (if your replacing them),the degreaser can contaminate the foam seals and they wont hold oil very well.
If your doing a full strip down and replacing the seals ,I find that very hot water works really well once the wiper seals and foam washers are out you are left with just the lowers.Running hot water down the insides flushes out the old oil/grease and because its very hot will dry almost instantly.Use a bottle brush while using the hot water and you will get them very clean.
If Im just changing the oil the the lowers,I usually just use some new oil to flush the old stuff out before topping up,and just wipe down the fork stanchions with a dry cloth. Its only there to lube the seals etc.
Hope this helps.

Hiya,
Had a go at getting the suckers apart last night! Bloody hell they are stuck! What do I do?!
Using the Sram pdf download - un screwed everything as recommended - should it be an easy job to pull them apart?
Cheers -
I did mine last night too. They didn't take a huge amount of force to come apart. A good sharp tug should be enough to part 'em. [patronising mode]You definitly removed bolts from the bottom of BOTH legs?[/patronising mode]
Once you've managed that, as long as you follow the instructions, and don't lose anything , they're a piece of 'p' to strip/rebuild.
Just make sure you put the lid on the oil at all times to avoid 'wife annoying' carpet spills  Oops, I learnt that one too late :evil:0 -
Dont take the bolts all the way out ,only unscrew them about 3-4 turns, then hit them with a soft faced hammer, this will seperate the inner shafts from the lower legs. Then once they are lose let the oil drain and seperate the lowers from upper legs.
I should make a video -
Ah - sorted!
I have ordered a seal kit - need dust seals too as they are a bit screwed - do they come in the seals kit - kinda assumed so!?!
